For employees whose hours and earnings have been reduced (but who have not been laid off) as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the Short-Time Compensation program facilitates pro-rated Reemployment Assistance benefits (previously known as “unemployment assistance) to help cover the gap in earnings.


  • Partial re-employment check to supplement a reduced paycheck

  • Must be a full-time employee
  • Weekly hours and/or pay must be reduced by 10% to 40% of normal pay
  • Employee must continue to work all scheduled hours (based on reduced schedule)

If you are a full-time employee, with a regular number of hours worked each week, excluding overtime, check with your employer to verify they have registered with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and you are able to access this benefit. All employees seeking this assistance should start by creating an employee account and begin processing a reemployment claim
