Helpful tips

  • Owners must use a contractor who has been approved for the program.
  • This program will provide matching grants up to $10,000 to use towards roof/structural reinforcements and exterior door, garage door, or window upgrades. NOTE: Townhomes are not eligible for roof improvements.
  • If selected for the program, you will receive $2 in grant funds for every $1 you provide. For example, if you were to pay $15,000 for new impact-rated windows, your required contribution would be $5,000, and the state’s contribution would be equal to the maximum grant amount of $10,000.
  • If you are a low-income applicant you can receive funds without having to make matching payments. Click here and select the size of your household to view income limits.
  • If you are awarded grant funds, your home will need to be re-inspected after construction work has been completed. The re-inspection is provided at no cost to you.
  • Owners must pay the contractor in full before being reimbursed for the matching funds.
