The City of Miami has launched the Mortgage Assistance Program (MAP) to assist eligible homeowners within City of Miami limits. This grant provides a one-time payment of up to $6,000 towards the past due mortgage payments (arrears) to qualifying households.

Open to all eligible homeowners within City of Miami limits:

  • 120% Area Median Income (AMI) or below
  • Have experienced job loss or income reduction on or after March 1st due to COVID-19
  • The home must be owner-occupied with a homestead exemption, within City of Miami limits
  • The home must be a single-family home, a townhome, or a condominium
  • The homeowner must have been current on their mortgage prior to March 1, 2020. The program can pay PITI (Principal, Interest, Taxes and Insurance) between March 1 and December 30, 2020.

  • To apply, send the application in one sealed envelope with all supporting documents  via U.S. Mail to the PO BOX noted on the application form or drop off at the Department of Housing & Community Development, 14 NE 1 Ave., Lobby Drop Box, Miami, FL 33132, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm
  • A staff member will contact the applicant after receiving a submission and advise them of their eligibility
  • Due to limited funds, applicants will be assisted on a first-come, first-ready, first serve basis
  • Funds for qualifying households will be paid directly to the mortgage lender on behalf of the homeowner with no repayment required

  • Housing Intake Application 
  • Award/Denial Letter (from any other CARES Act assistance received)
  • Self-Certification of COVID-19 related hardship
  • Self-Certification of income for all household members over 18 years of age 
  • Copy of driver's license, ID or birth certificate for all household members
  • Copy of Property Deed in applicant's name
  • Copy of Current Mortgage Statement indicating arrears
  • W-9 form from the mortgage lender 
  • Supplier Direct Deposit (ACH) Authorization form from mortgage lender(s) that prefer electronic payment
