When to apply:

No deadline, on-going program.

Make an evacuation plan in case it is necessary or enforced due to a hurricane or storm.

You should apply if you

Live in an area that typically experiences Hurricane threats and/or Tropical Storms (which includes Miami-Dade County).

How to get started

Click here and search your address to understand if you're located within a zone that is at high risk of flooding during hurricanes or storms.

If you are unable to evacuate on your own due to a specialized transportation need, medical need, or require assistance with daily living activities you are eligible for the Emergency & Evacuation Assistance Program (EEAP) but you MUST pre-register. Click here for more information.

Information you’ll need to provide

  • If your evacuation plan relies on a service, you will likely have to provide some information about your living conditions and location. This will vary by service.

Helpful tips

  • It can be difficult to predict whether or not evacuation will be necessary. It is important to listen to the news and regular updates from Miami-Dade County to understand the potential risks as a storm nears. 
  • Residents are encouraged to stay with family members or friends who live inland in a non-evacuation area. Hurricane evacuation centers will open, but should only be considered as a shelter of last resort.
