Application

The Short-Time Compensation program helps businesses keep their employees in times of a temporary slowdown by enabling them to reduce hours as an alternative to a full-blown layoff. The program facilitates prorated re-employment benefits from the state to help employees whose work hours have been reduced cover their gap in earnings.

To participate, employers must have a 10 to 40 percent reduction in the normal weekly hours of work for individuals that affects at least 10 percent of all its employees. The employer must have an approved Short-Time Compensation Plan filed with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (FLDEO). Contact FLDEO at (877) 846-8770 for additional information.
