Eligibility

You should apply if you are a small for-profit or not-for profit businesses that meets the following:

  • Located within the City limits - you can check here.
  • Annual revenue must be less than $1 million.
  • Must have suffered a loss of business income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic between the dates of March 1, 2020 and date of application.
  • Registered with the State of Florida prior to September 1, 2019 and maintained an ‘Active’ status in the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations.
  • Have current City Certificate of Use and Business Tax Receipts.
  • Not have already received COVID-19 related financial assistance (grant, loans, etc.) from any other federal, state or local program to pay the same expenses.
  • Be currently open for business within the City limits or able to open within the City limits if no mandatory closure orders are in place.
  • Be current in all financial obligations with the City of Miami. 

Additional Information  

  • Home-based business (i.e. Lyft, Uber drivers, etc.) are able to participate if they can prove loss of business income during the relevant time period. 
  • National chains and/or franchises will be reviewed on an individual basis prior to making a decision (i.e. Home Depot will not qualify for this assistance, but a locally owned and operated Ace Hardware store may).

To Apply: Download and complete the application from the link provided, along with copies of all supporting documents, in ONE sealed envelope/package and drop it off at the Department of Housing & Community Development, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm. No postage is necessary as this is a Drop Box.

  • Proof of Payment of Expenditures to be Reimbursed.
  • Data Universal Number System (DUNS) number 


If you do not have a DUNS number you can register by visiting the Dun & Brandstreet website at fedgov.dnb.com. You are allowed to submit an application with proof you started the DUNS number application process even if a DUNS number is yet to be assigned to your business.)
