One-time grant assistance of up to $10,000.00. CareerSource South Florida will utilize the following scale to award grants:

  • 3–10 full-time employees up to $5,000
  • 11–25 full-time employees up to $7,500
  • 26–50 full-time employees up to $10,000

Eligibility

To apply, you must: 

  • Have between 3-50 W2 employees.
  • Have been in business for at least 2 years and in good standing with the state of Florida.
  • Have a primary location in Miami-Dade or Monroe County.
  • Have gross receipt or gross excise taxes that are $10 million or less for the last two available financial years.

Application

  • Applicants should clearly state their need for COVID-19 related assistance. Note: Rent, payroll, utilities and infrastructure changes for social distancing purposes are not allowable expenses and will be rejected. 
  • Use the Layoff Aversion Application Completion Guide when submitting your application. The guide will provide you with step by step instructions on how to fill out the application and ensure that you include all the required information.

Permissible use of funds include, but are not limited to:

  • Purchasing remote access equipment or software that allows employees to work from home.
  • Paying for services or tools for restaurants or retail establishments to convert to online sales or delivery during Shelter in Place orders.
  • Purchasing cleaning/sanitation supplies and/or services that will allow an essential small business to maintain an on-site workforce.
  • Supporting businesses that take advantage of the Short-Time Compensation Program.
  • Other creative approaches and strategies to reduce or eliminate the need for layoffs.

Requirements

  • Copies of your last two (2) completed tax returns – 2017, 2018, 2019 and / or Schedule C (Form 1040), Profit or Loss from Business Statement, or Form 990 of Organization Exempt from Income Tax.
  • A current signed and dated W9 for your business.
  • IRS form 941 or RT6 which is no more than 3 quarters prior to the date of application. The document must show the number of employees that your business employs.
  • A copy of your current business lease, property deed/ mortgage, or certificate of use from Miami Dade County.
  • Receipts for qualified items purchased between March 9, 2020 and the date of your application.
