We asked Yasnay a few questions about being a small business owner in Miami. Check out her responses below:

How has being a part of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava's STRIVE305 small business initiative helped support your business?

Being part of this community has helped my business gain exposure by partnering to help business owners and take care control of their finances and maximize profits. I'm a Certified Profit First Professional and in collaboration with STRIVE305, we are creating a revolution to help business owners put Profit First.

What is the origin story of your business?

My father came from Cuba in a raft and and it took 11 years to reunite my family members. I came from Cuba with my mom and sister at the age of 18 to start a new life and live the American Dream. One year later in 2006, my family started the entrepreneurial journey by opening a convenience store in in Little Havana. We had a little bit of savings and a ton of hope. We had a lot to learn, so I went to school to learn accounting and business administration, and then applied everything I learned in my family business. I became the Catalyst for my family. My parents inspired me to become a Micro-Business Catalyst and serve the micro-business community at large.

What is your best piece of advice for fellow business owners?

Don't let your dream become a nightmare. Put Profit First to pay yourself what you deserve, and strive to have a balanced life.

What is a major business challenge that you overcame?

A major challenge I'm overcoming is breaking generational workaholic and poverty cycles. Poverty as in both money and time. I have done a lot of personal development and mindset shifting. I have read countless self-development and business books. I find it helpful to learn from the wisdom of others through books. Some of my favorite books include Atomic Habits, The E-Myth, Clockwork, Profit First, Eat that Frog, Rich Dad Poor Dad, the 4 Hour Workweek, Build an A Team, My Story Brand, Money Master the Game... the list is long. I love to learn and I love passing this wisdom on to my small business clients.
